vs800
The VS800 is an EDM machine developed for CDM Rovella as the first step in a process of renewing its product identity. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a high-precision machining process based on the removal of material through electrical discharges, used for complex geometries and tight tolerances. In this context, CDM Rovella already had a solid technical foundation, but felt the need to evolve the design language of its machines. The VS800 was therefore conceived as a foundational project: to define a recognizable style, capable of accompanying the development of the range over time and strengthening the product's perception on the market.

The design is built around two key principles: simplicity and recognizability. Surfaces are clean, free of superfluous elements, with hidden fasteners and carefully managed proportions. A continuous line runs through the machine and becomes its distinctive element: not a decorative feature, but a section that connects the exterior and interior, highlighting the work area and guiding the reader's understanding of the product. This logic is also reflected in the management of volumes, with a clear distinction between the operating area and the bodywork, improving usability and maintenance. At the same time, the project introduces a modular approach, in which components and solutions are designed to be reused on subsequent models, optimizing production, assembly, and parts storage. The VS800 thus defines a clear and replicable language, becoming the basis for the development of subsequent machines and contributing significantly to the construction of the brand's identity.
