PHARMATHEK
SINTESI
The SINTESI automated dispensing system, developed for Pharmathek, was born from a precise design challenge: to redefine automation within the pharmacy environment without letting it visually dominate the space it inhabits. The project merges industrial design and furniture design into a system that must coexist with the public, engage with existing interior elements, and at the same time perform fully as a robotic product. The tension between these two natures — aesthetic and mechanical — is the central theme around which the entire design logic was built.
The wooden band is the system's visual signature: on the customer-facing side, it runs horizontally as a distinctive mark that evokes the imagery of the traditional pharmacy and brings warmth to an inherently technological object; wrapping around to the side panel, it extends into the pharmacist's working surface. The public-facing front presents clean volumes and understated finishes, integrated into the interior without overpowering it. The operator side consolidates functional complexity into a dark panel with a curved profile, organizing screen, scanner, and controls in a neat and accessible layout. Black also defines the machine access door, where the Cartesian robot internally manages the movement and storage of medications.
