SINTESI

The SINTESI automated warehouse, developed for Pharmathek, originates from a precise design challenge: redefining automation within the pharmacy without it visually dominating the environment it operates in. The project blends industrial design and furniture design into a system that must coexist with the public, dialogue with existing furnishings, and at the same time retain full functionality as a robotic product. The tension between these two natures — aesthetic and mechanical — is the central theme around which the entire design logic was built.

The wooden band is the system's visual signature: on the customer-facing side, it runs horizontally as a distinctive mark that evokes the imagery of the traditional pharmacy and brings warmth to an intrinsically technological object; wrapping around the side, it extends into the pharmacist's working surface. The public-facing side presents clean volumes and understated finishes, integrated into the furnishings without overpowering them. The operator side gathers the functional complexity into a dark, curved-profile panel that organizes the screen, scanner, and controls in a clear, accessible way. Black also identifies the machine's access door, where the cartesian robot internally manages the storage and retrieval of medicines.
