CDM Rovella
vs800
The VS800 is an EDM machine developed for CDM Rovella as the first step in an overhaul of the product's identity. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a high-precision manufacturing process that removes material through electrical discharges, used for complex geometries and tight tolerances. In this context, CDM Rovella already had a solid technical foundation, but felt the need to evolve the formal language of its machines as well. The VS800 was therefore conceived as a foundational project: to define a recognizable style capable of guiding the range's development over time and strengthening the product's perception on the market.

The design is built around two key principles: simplicity and recognizability. The surfaces are clean, free of superfluous elements, with hidden fasteners and carefully controlled proportions. A continuous line runs across the machine and becomes its distinctive feature: not a decorative mark, but a section that connects exterior and interior, highlighting the working area and guiding how the product is read. This logic is also reflected in the handling of volumes, with a clear distinction between the operating zone and the housing, improving usability and maintenance. At the same time, the project introduces a modular approach, in which components and solutions are designed to be reused across future models, optimizing production, assembly, and parts storage. The VS800 thus establishes a clear, replicable language, becoming the foundation on which subsequent machines are developed and contributing concretely to building the brand's identity.
