vs800 plus
The VS800 Plus is an EDM machine developed for CDM Rovella as part of a range evolution toward a more structured and recognizable design language. Based on the original VS800, it introduces a modular, scalable approach with a 30-position rotary tool magazine, increasing operational flexibility and production efficiency.
The project focuses on a clear articulation of volumes and functions, where formal choices derive directly from the technical structure and assembly constraints. The machine is divided into well-defined zones, further emphasized through color: black for the working area, chosen to reduce the visual impact of dirt and debris, and grey for the housing, in line with the brand's new visual identity. The head, highlighted in white, emerges from the main silhouette, lightening its overall perception, while a blue line runs across the machine like a cut, hinting at its internal structure.
The presence of the tool magazine and its components led to a deliberately asymmetrical yet balanced design, in which every formal choice is justified by function and by the layout of the technical elements. In this sense, the stylistic language is built from the mechanics outward, maintaining consistency in proportions, angles, and surfaces.
The integration of components developed through additive manufacturing, in collaboration with Hyle Project, also made it possible to optimize certain parts, introducing complex geometries and reducing traditional production constraints.
The VS800 Plus represents a synthesis of design and engineering, where modularity, manufacturability, and visual identity converge into a coherent product.
